The heated and ever changing championship battle in the SK Modified division at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl remained spicy again on Saturday night.
Anthony Flannery of East Hampton got his third victory of the season in the 35-lap SK Modified feature at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl Saturday.
Adam Gada of Bozrah was second and Andrew Molleur of Shelton third.
Coming into the event Molleur held a one-point lead at the top of the standings over Flannery and Timmy Jordan, who were tied for second. Reigning division champion Todd Owen sat fourth in the standings, nine points off the lead, with Eric Berndt fifth in the standings, 15 points behind the top spot.
The biggest drama of the championship chase came on lap one of Saturday’s feature when Jordan’s night ended in a wreck.
Berndt finished fourth Saturday and Owen fifth.
When all was said and done it was Flannery on top of the standings by three points over Molleur. Owen moved to third in the standings, 14 points behind Flannery. Jordan fell to fourth, 16 points off the lead, with Berndt sitting fifth, 19 points behind the top spot.
Nickolas Hovey of Chaplin scored his sixth victory in 10 starts this season in the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature.
Tyler Barry of Griswold was second and Zack Sangermano of Plainfield third.
Norm Root III of Old Saybrook won for the fifth time this year in the 25-lap Street Stock feature.
Aaron Plemons of Uncasville was second and Al Stone III of Durham third.
Austin Long of Waterford won the 25-lap Truck feature.
Charles Beal of Ledyard was second and Tyler Chapman of Mystic third.
