When Joe Gibbs Racing announced back in early January that Justin Bonsignore would be running selected events for the team on the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2025, the expectation was that the four-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion would make five starts for the organization this year.
Well five has become nine for 2025 for Bonsignore.
On Monday Joe Gibbs Racing announced Bonsignore’s schedule for 2025 on the Xfinity Series and it includes nine events for the team this season.
That nine event slate kicks off for Bonsignore on Feb. 15 at Daytona International Speedway.
Bonsignore, the reigning Whelen Modified Tour champion, will also run Xfinity Series events at Homestead-Miami Speedway (March 22), Bristol Motor Speedway (April 12), Rockingham Speedway (April 19), Pocono Raceway (June 21), Iowa Speedway (Aug. 2), Bristol Motor Speedway (Sept. 12), Kansas Speedway (Sept. 27) and Phoenix Raceway (Nov. 1).
Bonsignore made his first – and thus far only – Xfinity Series start June 22, 2024 for Joe Gibbs Racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Bonsignore ran up front with the leaders for much of the Xfinity Series Sci-Apps 200 at NHMS. He ended up involved in a late race restart skirmish and was forced to settle for a 22nd place finish.
Bonsignore begins the hunt for his fifth Whelen Modified Tour championship on Saturday when in the season opener for the division at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway.
The 36-year old Bonsignore has 45 career Whelen Modified Tour victories, second only to Mike Stefanik (74 wins) on the division’s all-time win list. In addition to his 2024 series title, Bonsignore also won Whelen Modified Tour titles in 2018, 2020 and 2021.
