Andrew Molleur Wins First New London-Waterford Speedbowl SK Modified Championship; Keith Rocco Tops Finale 

A year ago Andrew Molleur raced to the 2024 SK Modified championship at Stafford Speedway. 

Now the Shelton driver can add a second track to his resume as an SK Modified champion. 

Molleur used a sixth place finish in Sunday’s 100-lap SK Modified season finale to clinch his first SK Modified championship at the Speedbowl. 

Molleur closed out the season with a division-leading five victories, 12 top-five’s and top-10 finishes in all 14 events this season. 

He bested second place Anthony Flannery by 32 points in the final standings. Todd Owen was third in the standings, 33 points behind Molleur. Eric Berndt ended the season 40 points off the lead in fourth place. 

Keith Rocco of Wallingford scored the victory in the final event. 

It was Rocco’s all-time leading 95th career SK Modified win at the Speedbowl and his 156th victory overall at the shoreline oval. 

Anthony Bello of Newtown was second and Jon Puleo of Branford third. 

Nickolas Hovey scored his seventh victory in 13 events this year at the Speedbowl to clinch the SK Light Modified championship at the track. 

Ed Gomarlo of Swanzey, N.H. was second and Matt Brewer of Norwich third. 

Hovey edged Tyler Chapman by 14 points in the division’s final standings. 

Jacob Burns of East Greenwich, R.I. won the 30-lap Late Model feature. Devin Deshaies of Oakland, R.I. was second and Derryck Anderson of Plainfield was third. Deshaies won the Late Model championship. 

Al Stone III of Durham won the 25-lap Street Stock feature. It was Stone’s all-time track leading 71st victory in the division. Aaron Plemons of Uncasville was second Joe Arena of Bristol third. Plemons, who had seven wins in third events, won the Street Stock championship. 

Andrew Krzemiński of East Hampton won the 25-lap Mini Stock feature. Bill Sylvia of Preston was second and Ray Christian III of Uncasville was third. Christian, who had six victories in 13 starts this year, won the division championship. 

Ryan Lineham of Hope Valley, R.I. won the 25-lap Truck feature. Jaysin Beal of Ledard was second and Charles Beal of Ledyard third. Jaysin Beal won the Truck division championship. 

Burns won the 25-lap Legends feature. P.J. Evans of Uncasville was second and Riley Paul of Ledyard third. Paul won the division title.

    Keith seemed to gain an advantage when he spun around lap 50 and replaced a flat right rear tire. He then had 50 lap fresher rubber on the right rear and blew past everyone for the win(?).
