It all begins this Friday, October 10 with the final Dash for Cash of the season in the Sunoco Race Fuels 50, a $5,000 to win showdown to set the stage for the remainder of the weekend! Saturday is headlined by the 75th annual Race of Champions 150 with drivers from across New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania set to make the trek for one of the longest running racing events in the world! While Matt Hirschman will be there to defend his 9th win in the iconic event, he’ll have to face a gauntlet of fellow Modified Masters including Thompson Speedway hot-shoes Justin Bonsignore and Ron Silk among the rest of the field!
Saturday will also feature the championship crowning of the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) with Jeffrey Battle and Dan Bowes locked in the championship chase. The Thompson Sunoco Modifieds will crown their 2025 track champion on Saturday before Sunday’s $3,000-to-win CLASH while the New England Pro-4 Modifieds will run the annual Harry Kourafas Memorial 22.
Sunday is headlined by the third and final visit for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in the State of Connecticut for 2025! Hopefully weather holds decent for the day sunday.
It’s to bad that NASCAR can’t open their rules up a little, and let the ROC cars join the fun on Sunday. Its rare to have another tour at the same track, at essentially at the same time. There are 27 Whelen mods on Sunday, this track can and should have 30 to 40 based on the cars that will be in town It would be great if they could somehow get over 30 cars to race. If it’s about motors, or springs, or tires, add, or take away weight and adjust tires. i’m sure there a people smarter than I am. This is just a thought to try and keep racing relevant. It’s probably to late anyways.
Is there an ROC Entry List?
Enjoy it everyone !! I will be watching on Flo & Racing America… !! heading South in the RV…Has anyone seen or heard from Doug since the reboot of the comments section returned..? Doug I hope you are well and if so check in with us old timers on RDCT ….
Other than Flo and the NWMT, will there be any streaming of the WS?
Rafter Fan,
My understanding is the rest of the events will be broadcast on Racing America.
Shawn – Thanks. I haven’t seen any reference to RA until now.
I hope ol’ Doug is fine. But, maybe he, like myself and a couple friends of mine who frequented this site, just lost the need to come here, and dropped out! After the sudden, un-welcome, un-announced, un-explained loss of the comments section, which he obviously spent every day living for; The constant click-bait of articles that only deceptively lead to “you can only finish reading this if you pay $5;” the Unmuffled interviews that are likewise only available if you give something first, The spotty coverage of New England racing, yet an unnecessary story about every putrid Cup, Craftsman truck and Xfiinity “show” from the far corners of the US; all the while greeted by a level of laughably sleazy ads like no other site around, why bother checking in? Get Serious
Getserious,
Let’s unpack your comment here.
First, I’m sorry to hear you no longer visit the site. I’ll say though interesting you suddenly appear to reply when a comment pops up that it would seem would never be viewed by someone who doesn’t actually visit the site. But, let’s move on.
You say: “The constant click-bait of articles that only deceptively lead to “you can only finish reading this if you pay $5;” – Since introducing the RaceDayCT Insider page element in 2018 there have been more than 8,000 articles posted on the RaceDayCT website and less than 15 of those 8,000 or so “articles” have required a RaceDayCT Insider subscription to read them.
Yes, all the Unmuffled audio entries are only available through the RaceDayCT Insider subscription. And that’s the point of it. It offers subscribers something extra for their support. If you’re not interested in that then don’t complain. But I would surmise you are interested or you wouldn’t actually be complaining about not being able to listen to something that you don’t want to listen to. So basically what you’re saying is you want a free handout and if you don’t get it you’re going to cry.
You said that when you visit the site you’re: “greeted by a level of laughably sleazy ads”. Yes, like many sites, I use Google Adsense advertising as a way to generate a relatively small amount of income. You might not be aware but Google AdSense actually serves you personally curated ads. That means the ads you see when you open the website are unique to you and specifically served to you based on the web sites you visit or your Google searches. So if you are seeing “sleazy ads”, that’s entirely because Google AdSense thinks you want to see those sleazy ads based on the other sites you regularly visit or what you’re searching for on your device.
Suitcase;
Glad you are out there, good seeing your name, travel safe.
I echo that, Doug if you are out there, hope you are well. Funny, I miss your football takes most of all!
I was going Sunday to Thompson as I had previous commitments on saturday. Damn. Now I’m out. I’m sure fast eddie and Dareal will be there, and I’m hoping for some observations from them, as this is a pretty packed day now on Saturday. And at some point, there is always controversy!
Shawn, thanks again for comment section back. Appreciated.
We’re getting home from a long trip late on Saturday, so I’ll have to miss this one. I love Mods at Thompson, it bugs me to miss this event. I would be there if it was on Sunday.
Everybody else, have a great time!!!!
