It’s not uncommon for fans to see NASCAR Modified Tour standout Patrick Emerling competing behind the wheel of a full-fendered race car.

But for most short track fans, the opportunity to see that typically only comes through watching a NASCAR Xfinity Series race, where Emerling competes part-time.

That all changes this weekend at Sunoco World Series at Thompson Speedway.

In addition to his efforts behind the wheel of a Modified this weekend

Emerling will add to his busy schedule for Sunoco World Series weekend by racing in the 25-lap feature on Friday.

Emerling will join the already stout Hartwell Motorsports stable for the event.

Emerling is also expected to run the 50-lap Thompson Outlaw Modified event on Friday, the 150-lap ROC Race Of Champions on Saturday and the the NASCAR Modified Tour Sunoco World Series 150 on Sunday.

With the Hartwell Motorsports ride, Emerling will team up with a driver he’s familiar with seeing on track in a Modified of late.

Jake Johnson has competed for Hartwell Motorsports all year at Thompson Speedway. Johnson leads the Late Model division standings at Thompson heading into the division’s finale on Friday. Johnson has three victories and six top-five finishes in six Late Model events at Thompson this season.
