Travis Hydar has been turning heads on the track for the last few seasons at Stafford Speedway.
In 2026 he will look to continue his successes on the historic Stafford half-mile while also taking the show on the road.
In addition to defending his 2025 Limited Late Model championship at Stafford Speedway, Hydar will also join the Late Model division at Thompson Speedway full-time in 2026.
Hydar will run the Jason Glaude owned No. 31 Late Model at Thompson Speedway in 2026.
“Jason and some of my guys … have been really good friends for a lot of years,” Hydar told RaceDayCT. “Jason is always looking to give young drivers a big opportunity and have them drive his car. I was super surprised to get the call to for him this year at Thompson. … I’m super honored to able to be able to drive for such a respected car owner.”
It will mark Hydar’s first full-time foray in racing away from Stafford Speedway. The 22-year old has never turned a lap in competition at Thompson Speedway in any type of car.
“I wouldn’t say it’s intimidating, I’m more excited about it,” Hydar said. “I’ve wanted to run anything at Thompson for a long time just to drive the track. I’m just really excited for it.”
Hydar ran the Street Stock division at Stafford from 2017 to 2024, along the way becoming the division’s all-time winningest driver with 31 career victories. He won the Street Stock division championship in 2022.
Hydar made the jump to the Limited Late Model division at Stafford for the 2025 season and shined in his rookie season, scoring a division leading four victories on the way to his second track championship. Hydar said the plan his team carried into his rookie season in the Limited Late Model division will be the same plan they’ll take to his sophomore season in the division.
“I think the best mindset is pretty much the same mindset we went into it with last year, finish all the races, be as fast as we can and finish in front of the rest of them,” Hydar said. “It seems to work. It’s kind of the mentality that I’ve been driving with for a decent number of years now.”
