Why Is The Change To American Racer Tires On The Whelen Mod Tour Being Treated Like A Dirty Secret?

At around noon on Christmas Eve, via a private e-mail notification, NASCAR management made teams on the Whelen Modified Tour aware that the sanctioning body had decided to make American Racer Tires the new exclusive tire for the series.

Hoosier Tires had been the exclusive tire provider for the series since 1999. It’s fair to describe the decision to move to American Racer Tires as one of the most massive foundational changes for the series in three decades.

And yet very oddly, officially, it’s been crickets about the entire topic for the last 15 days.

So why is this massive decision for the series being treated like the dirty little secret nobody involved wants to talk about? Why is NASCAR management literally refusing to talk about anything to do with the tire change?
