Surprise Move: Former Speedbowl General Manager Returning To Management Role For 2026?

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about the New London-Waterford Speedbowl over the last decade it’s that no matter what seems like is happening, don’t be shocked when something altogether different takes place.

Track owner Bruce Bemer is as unpredictable as they come in the racing business. Things don’t change by the week or the month with Bemer, they change by the minute and the hour. As much as you might think you know what’s next, you really never know until it happens.

Over the last few weeks all indications pointed to an organized group of racing industry veterans stepping to the plate to lease and operate the facility in 2026.

But like many others who have courted Bemer in the past when it comes to the racing business and operations at the Speedbowl, it looks like that group got walked down the aisle and left at the altar this week.

And what’s really coming next is just another huge surprise.
