STAFFORD – In 2014 Jeremy Sorel scored a pair of victories in the SK Light Modified division at Stafford Speedway on the way to a division championship that season.
Saturday the Westfield, Mass. driver made his return to the track a decade later to celebrate once again.
Sorel led every lap on the way to a dominate victory in the Granite State Pro Stock Series Casagrande Builders 75 Saturday at the NAPA Spring Sizzler at Stafford Speedway.
It was the first career Granite State Pro Stock Series victory for Sorel, who had nearly a half lap lead over the field at the checkered flag.
“The thing was on rails,” Sorel said. “It was unbelievable. … It was the most drivable car I’ve ever had. It was really unbelievable.”
David Arute of Stafford, making his series deubt, was second.
“It was a blast,” Arute said. “I haven’t seen a full fender on a race car in probably 12 years, since my Limited Late Model days.”
Jimmy Hebert of Williamstown, Vt. was third.
“It was all unknown,” Hebert said. “We got 16 laps practice, we’ve never been here, never run this series, never ran these tires. Guess we guessed pretty good.
With Sorel leading second place Eddie MacDonald and third place Cory Casagrande, caution quickly was out on the field on lap two when Joey Kendall spun on the frontstretch and Dan Winter ended up stopped in the turn one wall.
On the lap two restart Sorel held the top spot with Casagrande moving past MacDonald for second.
Caution returned to the track on lap three for a multi-car wreck in turn two.
Sorel got away on the ensuing restart, leaving Casagrande and MacDonald battling side by side for second.

On the lap four restart MacDonald stayed to the outside of Sorel. The pair came side-by-side back to the line to complete lap four with MacDonald leading. Sorel was able to clear MacDonald for the lead off of turn two on lap five with Hebert moving to second and Joey Polewarczyk Jr. following to third.
