Whelen Modified Tour Checking The Temps Going To Oxford Plains Speedway 




Checking the temperatures on the competition on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour heading to the Oxford Plains 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway on May 2


Stephen Kopcik: They don’t get much hotter than Stephen Kopcik is right now. Kopcik scored his first career Whelen Modified Tour victory on March 28 at Martinsville and followed that up with his second series victory in the Icebreaker 150 Sunday at Thompson. Kopcik is in the series points lead for the first time in his career 

Ron Silk: After a last place finish in the season opener at New Smyrna, Silk has bounced back with consecutive second place runs at Martinsville and Thompson and now sits ninth in the standings. 


Austin Beers: Had a sixth place run at Thompson to go with a fifth at New Smyrna and a third at Martinsville. Defending series champion sits second in the standings, seven points off the top spot. 

Tyler Rypkema: After a second place to start the season at New Smyrna and third place at Martinsville, Rypkema was 10th at Thompson and is third in the standings, nine points off the lead. 

Jon McKennedy: Bounced back from a 27th place at Martinsville by battling at the front of the field much of the day at Thompson before settling for a fourth place finish. Jumped from 14th to 10th in the standings. 

Mike Christopher Jr.: After a 19th place at New Smyrna and a 15th place at Martinsville Christopher put on a show in the late stages at Thompson to finish third. Jumped from 16th to 11th in the standings. 


Patrick Emerling: Had a 13th place run at Thompson for his first finish outside of the top-six this season. Dropped to fourth in the standings, 15 points behind the leader. 

Matt Hirschman: After back-to-back 12th place finishes in the first two events of the season, Hirschman scored a fifth place finish at the Icebreaker to move up two spots in the standings to eighth place. 

Eric Goodale: A 12th place run at Thompson to go with a 10th place at New Smyrna and a fourth place at Martinsville puts Goodale tied for fifth in the standings. 

Craig Lutz: Finished eighth at Thompson with an average finish of ninth this season. Sits seventh in the standings, 21 points off the top spot. 

Teddy Hodgdon IV: Crash at Martinsville relegated the rookie to a 28th place. Bounced back with an 11th place run at Thompson. 


Kyle Bonsignore: Followed up a seventh place finish at Martinsville with a 22nd place showing at Thompson. 

Justin Bonsignore: After winning the season opener, involved in a late wreck at Martinsville near the front of the field to finish 24th. Ran mid-pack much of the day before grabbing a seventh place finish at Thompson. Four-time series champion tied for fifth in the standings, 20 points off the lead. 

Trevor Catalano: Retired from Thompson with suspension issue for a 29th place finish after a ninth at New Smyrna and 11th at Martinsville. 

Tommy Catalano: Bounced back from a 17th place at New Smyrna to finish eighth at Martinsville, but struggled to a 19th place finish at Thompson. 


Andrew Krause: A 20th place at Thompson proves to be the high point of the season after 28th at New Smyrna and a 30th at Martinsville. 

Ken Heagy: A 25th place run at Thompson leaves the veteran with a 24th place average over the first three events of the season with a best finish of 22nd (New Smyrna).

    Paulie Hartwig would be doing well if his horse didn’t come out from under him 2 many times… The “KID” is loaded with talent.. In the Tri Track Heat race he checked out on the field in his FIRST EVER race on the High Banks… He impressed me last Spring in the SMART MOD TOUR races i attended in NC.. The KID can flat wheel a Racecar… Looking forward to when the NORTHERN FANS can catch a glimpse of how talented he really is…. If they can put a strong car under him… He will succeed … that I am sure….. Don’t be surprised when he grabs a TOUR WIN in 2026… Just Saying.. These ” OLD EYES ” still can see Talent when it shows up at the Track … Time will tell… so far mechanical issues have put a damper on the Talent Paulie has…. See what happens next… just my humble obeservations so far…
