STAFFORD – When it came to finding victory lane in a Street Stock in 2025 at Stafford Speedway, nobody did it better than Aaron Plemons.

The Uncasville driver has six Street Stock wins at Stafford in 2025. No other driver had more than two.

Plemons made the jump to the Limited Late Model division for 2026 and showed he wasn’t going to waste any time getting back to victory lane in a new division.

In his third start of the season, Plemons used a damaged car to run away from the field late and score his first Limited Late Model victory in the division’s 20-lap feature Friday at Stafford.

“I’m speechless man,” Plemons said in victory lane.

Plemons was involved in an early incident that caused damage to his car and had it filling up with smoke. Despite the issues, he used a three-wide move off of turn two on lap eight to pass second place Kyle Theriault and leader RJ Surdell and never trailed again.

Plemons ultimately had to have his car pushed off the track after the victory lane ceremonies.

“The car was vibrating really bad,” Plemons said. “I really didn’t think we were going to pull it off, but it just stayed together. Yeah, the whole bottom of the car was messed up. The left front is all collapsed. I really don’t know how we pulled it off at all,”

Jeremy Lavoie of Windsor Locks was second and Norm Root III of Old Saybrook third.

“It was a great night, started eighth, finished second. It was chaotic out there, a little jump ramping over each other, so just had to keep my nose clean and the car was good. … All in all, it was a great run for us.”

Said Root: It went pretty good, we started seventh, we ended up third, we came through the pack, I’m pretty happy about that. We’re still trying to find a lot of gains in the car, so we changed some stuff all throughout the day, made it better, made it worse, so we’re trying things every week. The restarts were pretty dramatic out there tonight. … Inside line is definitely the place to be here, but I had some pretty good restarts here. I like doing the restarts here, I’ve never gotten to shift anywhere other than here, so it’s fun to do it here.”

Ryan Waterman of Danielson went to the lead with 11 laps remaining and then held off Brandon Warren over the closing laps to win the 20-lap Street Stock feature.

It was the second win in three events this year for Waterman. He was fourth in his other start.

“I haven’t raced Brandon Warran since 2023 and he’s definitely gotten a lot better in a couple of years, so it’s going to make me work a little harder now. I kind of thought I could be able to ride and save a little but I had to be up elbows up on the wheel the whole time. It was fun, it was a blast.”

Warren, of Chicopee, Mass., who got his first career victory in the division last week, ended up second.

“I had a good battle with Ryan Waterman,” Warren said. “He’s one of the best Street Stock racers in the country in my opinion and wins everywhere he goes so I’m just happy that my program can compete with him.”

Jason Raymond of Somers was third.
