RJ Marcotte of Milbury, Mass. scored victory, and a $1,000 winner’s purse, in the 30-lap SK Light Modified feature Wednesday at Thompson Speedway.

Kevin Davis of Somers was second and Austin Goff of Stafford third.

“If [Davis] had a couple more laps he probably would had a chance, but we’re lucky he ran out of time,” Marcotte said.

Goff and Davis were embroiled in a tight battle for second for much of the event. After getting by Goff late, Davis closed to within about three-tenths of a second on Marcotte in the closing laps.

“I really used most of that race with Austin trying to pass him clean and not try to make too many mistakes, but I definitely feel like if we were able to get by him, we maybe had something for [Marcotte], but it is what it is,” Davis said. “It’s racing. The car’s in one piece. I couldn’t be any happier with a second place finish.”

Said Goff: “I’m glad we both gave each other enough room and we were still able to touch, but he wasn’t wrecking me and I wasn’t trying to wreck him. So I got to put some respect there.”

George Baldwin of Lowell, Mass. topped the field in the 20-lap Street Stock feature.

“Car got tight at the end, had to hold them off and did that and got another win,” Baldwin said.

Ryan Lineham of Warwick, R.I. was second and Jarrod Soucy of Wales, Mass. third.

“Any night you’re racing with George Baldwin for a win is always a good night,” Lineham said. “The guy’s got more wins in the last five years than I’ve had in my career. So, I mean, good to race him. I wanted to do it clean. I didn’t want to rough him up. We’ve got to race each other all year. So, he’s, he’s the guy I want to race.”

Chase Curtis of Rutland, Mass. won the 15-lap Thundertstock Crown Vic feature. Ethan Williams of Pomfret was second and John Williams Jr. of Pomfret third.
