(Press release from National Short Track Promotions)

The National Short Track Promotions (NSTP)/Eagle Chevy Performance Point Fund Series is proud to announce the two latest entries to come onboard.
A pair Connecticut drivers, Nick Hovey and Tyler Chapman, have recently added their names to the growing list of racers who are taking part in $20,120 point fund that is going to be spread out to the top 50 drivers who earn points at participating tracks that run the 602 Crate Modifieds.
Hovey started out 2025 on a big note when he won three of the four races with the 602 Crate Modifieds during February’s World Series of Asphalt Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.
Hovey also had a banner year in 2024, winning races at three different tracks including Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson Speedway and Waterford Bowl Speedway. Between the three tracks he scored 11 victories. He also had the distinction of competing in the most SK Light division races in Connecticut last year with 39 starts.
Chapman is another Connecticut hot-shoe who is coming off a 2024 campaign that saw him win seven of eight SK Light races at Thompson and 10 out of 20 races that he ran at Stafford. He will be advancing this year to the SK division but also running an SK Light Modified at Waterford. His twin brother Steven is also running the SK Light Modified cars.
“I am very excited to announce the two top guns in SK Light Modified racing in Connecticut will be entering the Eagle Chevy Performance point fund with their eyes on winning the championship award of $1,500,” said series director Joe Lewandoski.
“I am also awaiting word from Chase Grennan, who has won two championships at the Riverhead Raceway and has close to 20 wins in the last three years in the Crate class and if he plans to battle against those two stalwarts from Connecticut. Things are starting to pick up as the word keeps getting out there about the great incentives we have put together for the 602 Crate Modified guys.”
In order for drivers to be eligible to receive point fund money they must register with the NSTP for a fee of $75. There are a select number of tracks which run the 602 Crate Modifieds and have agreed to participate with the NSTP.
Pennsylvania’s Evergreen Raceway and Mahoning Valley Speedway, Connecticut’s Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson Speedway and Waterford Speedbowl, New Jersey’s Wall Stadium Speedway, Evans Mills and Spencer Speedways in New York and Long Island’s Riverhead Raceway are all in and most recently New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Florida has joined the list of participating tracks.
While each track will keep its own points, the NSTP will also tally points starting May 22 until September 22.
Aside from the point fund money, one lucky driver will be picked via a random draw and be the recipient of an Eagle Chevy Performance 602 motor courtesy of Eagle Chevrolet of Long Island, NY. There will also be a number of contingencies that being put together as well.
Drivers can get additional information, including how to sign up for the NSTP on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/NSTPLLC or by contacting Lewandowski at 386-281-2955.
