Thursday Night Thunder Returns For Round Two At Thompson Speedway This Week

(Press Release from American-Canadian Tour)

After an exciting return less than two weeks ago, the thunder of Thompson Speedway is back this Thursday, June 27 with a thrilling five-division card of racing headlined by a 50-lap spectacular for the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds! The Late Models, AZ Roofing SK Light Modifieds, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks join in for a night of action at the Big-T!

Jon Puleo remains king of the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds, even after a barn-storming Keith Rocco returned to Thompson last time out to steal the thunder away! Currently twenty points ahead of Danny Cates and thirty-six points ahead of leading rookie Isaiah Newcomb, Puleo has had strong runs both at Thompson and the New London-Waterford Speedbowl in his GM 604-powered machine. With the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds going for $3,000 to win this week, it’s sure to be a thrill ride from lap one to lap fifty!

Atop the Late Model standings are the two latest track champions, locked in a dead heat with 110 points each. Rehoboth, Massachusetts’ Nick Johnson and North Franklin, Connecticut’s Ryan Morgan have it all tied up in the championship chase with another former Late Model champ, Brian Tagg, back thirteen points in third. Could this Thursday’s outing give Tagg the chance he needs to claim the leaderboard or will young wonders Jacob ‘Rowdy’ Burns, Derek Gluchacki or the rest of the ultra-competitive field claim the win?

Speaking of kings, Ellington’s Tyler Chapman continues his reign in the AZ Roofing SK Light Modifieds after claiming his second-straight win two weeks ago. The division continues to throw down on their 25-lap feature events, many of them looking to best Chapman and claim the top spot this Thursday. The same can be said for the Mini Stocks with all comers chasing defending champion and current point leader Jared Roy after he too claimed his second-straight win on the season last time out.

The Street Stocks will also join Thursday’s billing with Danielson’s Ryan Waterman regaining control of the standings over Icebreaker victor Al Stone III. The fan-favorite division continues to highlight the Thompson Speedway track championship season every time they hit the track, with the lucrative Eden Rafferty bonuses playing into their 20-lap weekly sprints!
