-sorry Bobby Gee I failed to notice you only has 5 picks so no Mulligan could be eliminated from scoring. Hope you’ll consider playing in the future in which case you’ll want to pick the first 6 cars.
Thanks for playing!
Congrats Fast Eddie and thanks to Doug for doing all the administrative work
Thanks Doug and Shawn!
How to hit’em Eddie!
I don’t think I ever remember a 3 way tie for runner up !
Thanks to Doug, Shawn, csg, and the rest of the group for playing!
Hmmm… A 3-way and Liz C. is part of it. Why am I not surprised?
🫢 😳 😮
Likewise, congrats to Fast Eddie and thanks to Doug for all the work you do to support a friendly competition amongst those with the chutzpah to compete.
Sorry daRealBicycleRacer, no straw in the scorpion bowl for you pal.
Blewett III 76 race & Richie Evans 100 Race coming up … Will there be a PICK’EM combo for both or one at a time ….???
HAVE FUN = BE HAPPY !!! RACING SEASON IS HERE 2024 …. !!!!!
Only 9 playing in the opener a little less then expected. Since non Tour races aren’t as popular was just planning on the big one Friday.
Sounds good … Winter blues up in the Northland… Sunny and 65 – 70 down in Texas today… Sunday hit 80 on Super Bowl Sunday… The fulltime
RV life is pretty great, If you ever get the chance take it… Tons of people called ” Winter Texans ” from all over the Midwest, Northeast, Northwest and middle of the Country hide out from Jack Frost this time of year…. But Jack Frost did find his way, all the way to the gulf in January.. Temps in high 20’s with 40mph on the coast, LOL felt like Cape Cod on the Ocean in February ….. They don’t handle the cold too good down here… LOL
Best part is meeting nice people from all over the USA….. There are tons
of great people left in this Country, and should make us all feel a little warmer no matter the weather… Florida last year Texas this year …I am not a fisherman , but they catch a bunch of redfish & shrimp down here near Corpus Christi and the outer islands … OK don’t hurt your back shoveling ..

I guess I didnt get the picks in on time. Congrats to the winner. I honestly forgot they were running until I looked at Flo Friday. I dont think I would have done well. The team had a couple of wall bangers.
Sorry to miss this one…..But was traveling North from Texas to Tri – County Speedway NC …. 22.5 hours 1264 miles …. WE made it for the SMART TOUR RACE.!!!! Owner gave us a FREE sport overlooking the Backstretch because he was very happy we came to His racetrack from Texas .. Excellent Facility…. Clean and user friendly… 1/2 of viewing is fans pulling up to fence down in turns 1 & 2 and continuing down the backstretch to turn 3… They repaved the track in Sections… Each ends cost $80,000. bucks… Then they received 480K from the State for the balance of the pavement… They did a FANTASTIC JOB..!!! Smooth and Fast surface …The main grandstand is concrete levels…..with couple rows of chair back seats in top rows…They have a Tunnel in turn 3 so teams can go in and out of pits in the infield…. You have to sit up high or you cannot see all the way around because of the Haulers and a pit building roof that blocks the view…The “Owners ” have made many improvements such as new lighting for the track and pits…New fencing… Clean restrooms and Concessions … It is 4/10ths of a mile track with 12 degrees of banking …Really enjoyed the Staff and Track along with the super nice people ….ON to Hickory ..

I’m really hoping nothing adverse has happened to Doug. Whether anyone agreed with him or not, there were so many times he made me think things from a different angle. And, he changed my mind on some of the topics of discussion.
Miss his commentary, and Doug, if you are out there, I wish you well.
Bobf, I am 99.9 certain that Doug is alive and He is running this pick’em pool….He has the same format etc… But he is abstaining from the comments sections for awhile …Thank you Doug for continuing the Pick’em pool we started a few years ago for FUN …

Tidbits & this and that’s
-by the numbers the best Pick 6 so far with great picks and tight competition.
-Well done Just Me – The Original. The first win in 2024 and made the podium in three out of the four Picks so far.
-a perfect score is 3
-a perfect score excluding all bonus deductions is 13
-Earl the only player to score a bonus deduction, the fewest players getting extra credit so far this season.. Next pick (Riverhead) order bonus is going to -2 per correct position.
-Just Me -The Original has picked the 1 to win in every Pick 6 so far. It’s worked out good in three out of the four contests so far. Last year the 64 became a more popular pick. This year the 1 is proving to be the real deal and 3 more then the sentimental heartbreaker in waiting it’s been in the past.
-in four Pick 6’s Liz Cherokee has not finished worse then third so far. Whatever she’s drinking might be a good idea to give it a try if you’re struggling.
-Hmmm…..that’s interesting. Suitcase Jake one of the biggest supporters of McKennedy in commentary. When it comes to picking, sentimentality takes a back seat with no room at the inn for the 79 it would appear.
-I’m only scoring the NWMT races this year mainly because they seem to get the most interest and the competition is the tightest. This one a perfect example where picking is less luck and more real familiarity with the teams. If you want to do an MMTTS or other open it’s an open source contest we all created. the format well established so have at if the spirit moves you.
GREAT COMPETION – THANKS FOR PLAYING – ON TO RIVERHEAD!!!
Thank you Doug … Interesting Tidbits and this and thats… Jon looked strong until overheating issues took him to the pits… It was more of forgetfulness, that actually helped my final score.. LOL SO GOOD to see OLD BLUE back on top Winning a Tour Race & looking Strong the whole way one the one set of tires and new pavement looked smooth and fast.. the next 2 races should be Barnburners up there at Mad Dog !!! Congratulations to Norm Wrenn & Josh Vanada !! Place looked really great and professionally RUN SHOW !!! SMOOTH OPERATORS !!!! the harder rubber tires looked like they provided Great Racing for 150 laps…..
Was it me or did the stands lack spectators??

9/16/2023….Stewart (2nd), Bertuccio (5th), Solomito (6th)
Seems that Solomito has started at or near the front in the regular races at Riverhead and only had to contend with from 13 to 17 other cars most races. In the last race at Riverhead the 66 turned in the fastest lap by far but did it on lap 8, the leader at the time and with no lapped traffic to deal with.
Is Solomito the prohibitive favorite to be the first of the Riverhead bunch to finish highest when the checkers falls? Does anyone have the danglers to pick someone other then Solomito?
What lap do they park the 01 for making No effort to stay up to speed?
Hey Doug, howz you doin’?? I would go with Beatty if I didn’t pick Timmy already
OK DOUG, i will take the bait …. Change my 66 Solomito Riverhead Regular to # 34 JB Fortin …… Suitcase…..LOL Thanks Doug …
and the Tour goes on and on …,
Since the start of 2023 season NASCAR has not stepped in and parked her at events for not being up to speed.

I respectfully request the Pick 6 section be a safe zone from cheap shots directed @ Fifield. That fruit is hanging so low at this stage it’s practically rolling into the bushel basket on it’s own.

Oh Shawn I think they do they just don’t tell her over the radio and she parks it and they call it “Handling issues”. Research how many times she’s parked it for that reason.
And the Tour goes on and on …
Yes, prior to 2023 there was that consistent disappearance from most events around the halfway mark for “handling”. That stopped in 2023 and in most events since the start of the 2023 season she’s been allowed to run to the race conclusion. I speculate the change since the start of the 2023 season has something to do with NASCAR wanting to make sure they keep a certain amount of full-time teams with the series and not chance losing a team that might be angered by traveling 8-12 hours to events just to get thrown out after less than half the race is complete.
and the Tour goes on and on …,

I think the point trying to be made by the Pick 6 admin is that the Pick 6 space is typically reserved for essentially logging your picks and not for running commentary or dialogue. Plenty of other spaces on this site for you to log your gripes about certain individuals.

-No poll bonus – qualifying rained out.
-Earl beats Just Me for the runner-up spot using the tie breaker that scores all 6 picks
-By our previous rule that scores no shows as the total starting field plus one Goodale and Hirschman scored as 31.
-This is the first win for Bobf in 2024 and boy was it resounding!
Congrats to Bobf on delivering a total beat down Thailand vs Kuwait style.
Thanks again to Doug for his administration of our fun little contest.
Time for more Blowfish! The stuff works wonders on Monday mornings!
Thanks Liz!
I’m sure I’ll go from the Penthouse to the Outhouse in the next pick 6, cause you just never know how it will really go in these things!
Now I cant drink none of those hi octane cocktails you fancy, but I fully intend to have a celebratory light beer (or 2). So as you say, bottoms up boys, and ladies!!
Nice job, Bob, you’ve been overdue for a while! Thanks for being the score keeper Doug!

PICK 6 RULES
RAW SCORE-pick 6 drivers in the order in which you think they will finish. Top 5 picks assigned a score equal to their finishing position except if you get the winner correct it’s scored as a -1. Only your top 5 finishers included in the RAW SCORE. The lowest finishing car dropped via the Mulligan .
ORDER POINT DEDUCTIONS- each car you correctly show in the final finishing order earns a 2 point deduction in your final score. ALL SIX PICKS INCLUDED FOR THE PURPOSE OF SCORING THE ORDER POINT DEDUCTION.
POLE BONUS DEDUCTION- -2 points for picking the pole winning driver (NO pole bonus for races that aren’t set by 2 lap qualifying runs)
HEARTBREAKER BONUS DEDUCTION- pick the driver that is most likely to break your heart and end up your Mulligan and receive a 2 point deduction in your final score.
TIEBREAKER-if there is a tie for the win, runner up or third place all 6 picks by the tied contestants will be scored. If that does not resolve the tie then all tied contestants get credit.

Driver Spotlight
Ken Heagy’s NWMT career has spanned 37 years, competing in at least one race in 30 or those 37 years in a total of 196 starts. First race was in 1987. No polls, wins or top 5’s but has 9 top 10’s to his credit. The first was on 8/2/2008 finishing 6th at Riverhead, the last 9/16/23 at Riverhead where he finished 10th.
While Heagy has the broadest career spanning 5 decades he’s not the oldest driver in this event. Gary McDonald gets that distinction at 67, Tim Connolly at 63 second and Heagy third at 57.

Well done Suitcase Jake and Earl appearing in the top three in the most successful Pick 6 we’ve ever had with regard to correct picks. Each of the scores good enough to win in any other contest but in this one getting run over by a High Ball Express of picking success.
After a one week absence from the top three Liz Cherokee returns and with a vengeance. In a record setting effort only 4 points off a perfect score of -1 with a record number of order point deductions and total bonus deductions.
Honorable mention to rookie Enduro59 scoring a very respectable 18. Another score good enough to easily make the top three most contests but in this one a solid 4th place.
Thanks for playing!
Well done Liz!
Like I said last week, from penthouse to outhouse for this old guy!
Great job Liz!
Great Job Liz ….Is it a coincidence that Her FINAL SCORE WAS # 3 …??!!!!! WOW OLD BLUE & BUGMAN ….!!!! LOWEST SCORE since pick’em was started I believe …. Thanks Doug …. What an Epic Event it was ….Too bad the 79 was a no show … that would have helped the other players….On to the next one…..Great Fun….
Super job Liz..
Wow, congrats Liz and Suitcase! I’m pretty sure those were the first single-digit scores since we’ve been picking.
Well, given the extreme score, clearly this was rigged. No way Liz could have won, and won by such a score. It was rigged and represents a huge problem that only I can fix, along with the NWMT Most Popular Driver Award voting. Only I can fix such disasters.
Thanks everyone!!!
That even includes Dennis the bicycle 🛴 racer who by proclaiming it was rigged was obviously offering a congratulations in the only way he is capable given his deep rooted misogyny and narcissism. It’s OK, I know you are trying there fella! Maybe you need an Old Fashioned 🥃 to help you learn some chivalrous ways!
Doug, I must say that the “High Ball Express of picking success” line truly left me truly laughing out loud. 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks again for administering the contest for those of us who have fun with it. We’re on to New Hampshire!!!
🍹🍸🍹🍸🍹🍸🍹🏁
Liz, I possess a collection of rare and fine bourbons. 🥃 The likes of which would be a travesty to use to make an Old Fashioned or any other cocktail or mixed drink. So sad that has to be explained to you, but then, you drink swill.
I will be impressed when you include the 01 in your picks. 🏴 🏴☠️
Well, I wasn’t last. The 60 is screwing me. I bet him last time and the race gets postponed, and he leaves. This time I say I am not putting the 60 in the lineup at a short track, non tire change race at a track where tire management is key and a race he lead every lap last year. Well that didn’t really work out for me.
Congrats Liz and Suitcase. On to NH.
csg, I’ve been saying MH is an itty-bitty bullring specialist, a skidpad specialist, for years. I am right, I was proven right again. Seekonk is a track MH will excel at. Never bet against MH at Seekonk.

In only his second Pick 6 since the opener at New Smyrna Bobby Gee picks up the win and it wasn’t even close. The key to victory as it turned out started with not picking both the 7 and 40. Picks sublimely low for the Pick 6 at Seekonk, ridiculously high for this one but that’s the way it rolls in the race picking game. Earl the hottest player landing in the top 3, the last three weeks.
LUCKY DOG DEDUCTION-starting with the Duel at the Dog the player with the highest score (least successful) from the previous race starts out @ -2. Fast Eddie is the inaugural, involuntary claimant of the inauspicious deduction and will start at -2 for the race at Monadnock.
Thanks for playing
Congrats Bobby Gee! Makes me think of a guy named Bobby Vee who drove nice looking cars way back in the days my daddy took me to the races. I remember he was sponsored by Busch beer 🍺🍺🍺 too! Head for the mountains boys!
My picks were awful this week. I knew I would do worse than Seekonk, but not that bad! Note to self: Make picks before I get too drunk! Or at least let the Blowfish work its magic in the morning before making picks.

Wow, that fun to score the most competitive ever. The bonus point system often irrelevant determining the winner worked to perfection in this Pick 6.
Fast Eddie hot to start the season, then dormant returns to the winners circle on the strength of winning the battle of extra deductions over Just Me. Three wins total, no other player has more then one making the Fast one the guy to beat which can only mean one thing. Next Pick 6 you’ll be offered the opportunity to take on Fast Eddie head to head betting 2 points you can beat him. Or chicken out………your choice.
Thanks for playing
