STAFFORD – The big event for the Street Stock division of the season went to the big man of the Street Stock division Friday at Stafford.

Travis Hydar, the division’s all-time winningest driver at Stafford, extended that record for victories Friday by winning the Midstate Site Development Firecracker 30 for the Street Stock division.

The special event has the division running 10 more laps than they run weekly.

Hydar, of Woodbury, went from starting seventh to passing Chris Danielczuk for the lead on lap eight and never looked back.

“The car was really good,” Hydar said. “I approached this race just like any other and that’s push from the get go and that’s exactly what I did and I didn’t let up. The car was super hooked up.

“I want to give a huge thanks to Midstate Site Development for putting this race on. It was really cool and it’s an honor to win it.”

It was the fifth victory in eight events this season for Hydar and his record 24th victory overall in the division.

Ryan Waterman of Daneilson was second and Travis Downey of Barkhamstead third.

“Not a bad run,” Waterman said. “I sure gave it all I had. … I think we just needed a little bit more time. And when I put it in the pothole over there, the steering wheel wasn’t straight after that.”
