STAFFORD – The reigning champion was back in Late Model victory lane for the first time since spring Friday at Stafford Speedway.

Kevin Gambacorta, the 2023 Late Model champion at Stafford, topped the 30-lap Late Model feature Friday at Stafford.

It was the third victory of the season for Gambacorta and his first win since May 17.

“It was pretty good,” Gambacorta said. “We had a good [starting spot] and we took advantage of it tonight. It’s been a hell of a week. My son Colton won his second straight Junior Outlaw championship here on Sunday [in the Wild Things Kart Series] and now we’re in victory lane and we’re trying like hell to win ourselves a championship this year.”

Adam Gray of Belchertown, Mass. was second and Chris Meyer of North Franklin was third.

Gambacorta took the lead from Tom Fearn on lap seven and never trailed again.

Brandon Warren of Chicopee, Mass. held off Jason Lafayette over the final two laps to win the 20-lap Street Stock feature.

It was the first career victory in the division for Warren, of Chicopee, Mass.

Lafayette, of Somers, was second and Jeff Asselin of Granby, Mass. was third.

Kevin Cormier of Agawam, Mass. got his third win of the season in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature.

Kyler Theriault of Three Rivers, Mass. was second and Jeremy Lavoie of Windsor Locks third.
