Who would have ever thought covering motorsports would have afforded the opportunity to meet LL Cool J?
On Aug. 5, 2004 it did just that for us when LL Cool J was one of the feature acts at the Funkmaster Flex Super Series Show at the Waterford Speedbowl.
So In the immortal words of one James Todd Smith: “Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years.” Come on, you know we’ve always wanted to be introduced by LL Cool J.
Welcome To RaceDayCT, we’re back.
After 18 years and nine months working at the Hartford Courant, the decision was made in May to leave the newspaper. I made that decision with a goal in mind, a thought – a project – that has festered in the back of my head for a few years now.
I wanted to start something. I wanted to take what I’ve learned working for and with some of the best journalists ever and put it to use in something that I could call my own.
That’s right, Cue Up up Dio’s Hungry for Heaven, or better yet some Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider, let the Vision Quest begin (one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time by the way).
Sorry, just a huge fan of Vision Quest. Yeah, get used to it folks, this is part of what RaceDayCT is going to be all about.
It will mainly be about coverage of motorsports, especially short track racing, but that will just be part of it.
Yes, get ready for lots of inane pop culture references, some recent, some not so much. Get ready for my feelings thrown at you regularly on all topics surrounding motorsports.
I promise you the readers to be your vehicle to quality journalism covering racing, but I’m also ready to give you a place that’s fun, with some spice and personality and maybe a little who knows what might go on over there kind of feel. And trust me, it’s all going to be a never ending work in progress here. We’re still working as we speak to tweak things and develop new features to make this an enjoyable experience for everybody.
And fire up the Facebook and Twitter because that’s all going to be part of the crazy circus we’re going to be putting on under this tent.
So, get ready for a lot of me, and trust me, there’s a lot of me to go around so everybody will get some. Strap in and check those belts one more time, because we’re going green this time around. RaceDayCT is next.
