Calling Hours And Video Photo Tribute For “Wild” Bill Slater

Arrangements for former Modified driver “Wild” Bill Slater have been finalized.

Slater, of Manchester, passed away Sunday morning. He was 83 years old.

Calling hours for Slater will be held Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Tierney Funeral Home at 219 West Center Street in Manchester.

Slater, who began racing in 1949 and was a mainstay in Modified events up and down the east coast for 20 years, was a member of the inaugural class of the New England Auto Racers Hall of Fame in 1998.

Burial for Slater will be private.
