STAFFORD – A week ago at Stafford Motor Speedway Keith Rocco got his first SK Modified victory of the season after six winless events to start 2012.
After the race Rocco, of Wallingford, talked about getting the monkey off his back.
“Hopefully they’ll come easy from here on out,” Rocco said.
Friday Rocco made it look easy enough, scoring his second consecutive win in the 40-lap SK Modified feature at Stafford.
Rocco passed Danny Cates for the lead on lap 19 and never trailed again.
“The car was real good,” Rocco said. “It seems like we finally found the sweet spot for the car where we can come here every week and do the same thing and kind of get in a rhythm again. Once we get in a rhythm it makes my job easier and makes everybody else’s jobs a lot easier. Not that we need confidence, but the season we’ve been having, these two wins definitely boost everybody’s moral.”
Ryan Preece of Berlin was second and Woody Pitkat of Stafford third.
“We’re real happy,” said Preece, who had motor issues at Stafford last week. “To be able to rebound like we did, I’m happy. The Poulin’s give me everything I need to win races and we definitely salvaged a good race today so I’m happy with second.”
