THOMPSON – Ryan Preece left Woody Pitkat in his wake on a restart with eight laps remaining and rolled easily to victory in the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feaure Sunday at Thompson International Speedway.
It was the sixth victory in 12 events this year at Thompson Speedway for Preece of Berlin.
Pitkat, of Stafford, was second.
Dennis Perry of Pawcatuck held off a charging Ted Christopher of Plainville for third place at the line.
Preece started fourth in the field and quickly moved to second behind Kerry Malone.
On lap two Preece went by Malone to take over the top spot. For good.
Pitkat looked like he was going to give Preece a run for the win on lap 12 when he got by him briefly for the lead, but the pass was negated when the caution came out.
