Whelen Modified Tour Event At Riverhead Raceway Postponed

The teams of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour made their annual trek to Long Island Saturday morning, but it was all for naught at Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway.

Before a car could hit the historic quarter-mile mother nature decided to alter the Modified Tour schedule on Saturday.

Heavy rains arrived Saturday morning, and with a foreast calling for continued storms on Saturday, NASCAR and the track decided to call it day early and postpone the scheduled Riverhead 200.

The race which, would have marked the halfway point of the season, will now be run on Sept. 15.

The Whelen Modified Tour returns to action Friday with the running of the Stafford 150 at Stafford Motor Speedway.
