Cory Casagrande Takes Final Step Up The Limited Late Model Podium At Stafford Speedway

STAFFORD – It was a string of finishes seemingly most any driver would dream of through the first eleven events of the 2012 season at Stafford Motor Speedway for Cory Casagrande.

For Casagrande almost automatic trips to the podium week after week was actually getting a little frustrating.

Eleven races into the season and Casagrande had just one finish worse than third place. But there was something big missing on Casagrande’s stunning stat sheet coming into Friday’s event at the track. The Stafford driver finally grabbed the missing piece.

Casagrande won the first of two 15-lap Limited Late Model features Friday at Stafford.

It was the first victory of the season for Casagrande, who had four second place finishes and six third place finshes before a 10th place finish in the last event at the track on Aug. 3.

“Every week it just comes in your mind, you’re just like ‘Am I just going to finish second again?’” Casagrande said. “It gets old after a while because you hate being competitive and not winning, it’s just frustrating.”

Josh Wood of Palmer, Mass. was second and Michael Wray of Northford third.

“We put stickers on tonight and I think it just made the car go,” Casagrande said. “It was really good. Before this I was not a fan of the 15-lap race but right now I like it a lot.”
