Ron Silk Leads Whelen Modified Tour Practice At Stafford Speedway

STAFFORD – The champ was wearing the crown at practice Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Reigning NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Ron Silk led the way in practice Friday afternoon for tonight’s Stafford 150 at Stafford Speedway.

Silk, of Norwalk, had a fast lap of 18.456 seconds (97.529 mph).

Silk has a win and two poles 27 career starts at Stafford.

Eric Beers of Northampton, Pa. was just about on pace with Silk, turning a fast lap of 18.459 seconds (97.513 mph).

Ryan Preece of Berlin was third fastest during the practice session at 18.500 seconds (97.297 mph).

Series points leader Doug Coby, who has won the first two Whelen Modified Tour events this season at Stafford, was fifth fastest at 18.518 seconds (97.203 mph).
