Ryan Preece On Pole For Whelen Modified Tour Stafford 150 At Stafford Speedway

STAFFORD – The king of the poles this year on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour retook his crown Friday afternoon at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Ryan Preece of Berlin led the way in Whelen Modified Tour qualifying for tonight’s Stafford 150 at Stafford Speedway.

It was the fourth pole in seven events this year for Preece, who was on the pole for the first three events of the season.

Preece toured the half-mile oval at Stafford in 18.312 seconds (98.296 mph).

It marked the 10th career Whelen Modified Tour pole qualifying effort in 74 career starts in the series for Preece and his third overall at Stafford.

Eric Goodale of Riverhead, N.Y. will start outside of Preece after putting up a fast lap of 18.339 seconds (98.151 mph).

Donny Lia of Jericho, N.Y. was third fastest in qualifying at 18.363 seconds (98.023 mph). Ron Yuhas Jr. of Groton was fourth (18.381, 97.927 mph).

Series points leader Doug Coby of Milford, the winner of the first two events this year at Stafford was sixth fastest in qualifying (18.420 seconds, 97.720 mph).
