Stumping For Votes: Stafford Announcer Joe Coss Campaigning To Announce At Daytona

STAFFORD – The “Vote For Joe” signs were out in full force Friday night at Stafford Motor Speedway.

No it wasn’t some local politician trying make their way into public office. Vote for Joe was all about getting Stafford Motor Speedway announcer Joe Coss to the announcer’s booth at Daytona International Speedway.

Coss is one of five finalists for the UNOH Battle at the Beach announcer search. The contest will allow fans to vote for one local track announcer to get a spot on the announcing team for the inaugural Battle at the Beach at Daytona on Feb. 18-19, 2013.

Coss is joined on the finalist list by Jim Burns fro Elko Speedway in Minnesota, Eric Huenefeld from Rockford Speedway in Illinois, Adam Mackey from Barberton Raceway Park in Ohio and JW Martin from Motor Mile Speedway in Virginia.

Fans can go to Daytona International Speedway’s Home Tracks Announcer page to view vides of the finalists and vote for their favorite. Fans have until Sept. 30 to cast their votes.

The winner will be announced during the postseason NASCAR touring and weekly series banquet week in December in Charlotte.

Friday Coss’ wife Heather was under a tent on the midway at Stafford where fans could get on a laptop and cast their vote for Coss online.

“For Stafford I think it would be good to have someone at Daytona to represent them and what we do here in the Northeast,” Coss said. “I think it works out for everybody.”
