The race was extended to 203 laps because of a late caution.

Preece, of Berlin, led 168 laps in the event for his second win of the season. It was the first career series victory for Preece and his second in the division on the quarter-mile oval at Riverhead.

Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, N.Y. was second and Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield third.

Blewett, of Howell, N.J., was penalized to the tail of the end of the lead lap at the end of the race and finished 12th.

Series points leader Doug Coby of Milford saw what was a 32-point lead going into the event dwindle down to a single number after engine troubles relegated him to a 22nd place finish.

Preece’s victory vaulted him from third in the standings to second by Ron Silk and left him nine points behind Coby with three events remaining. Silk, of Norwalk, the reigning series champion, is 19 points behind Coby.

The Modified Tour returns to action Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with the running of the F.W. Webb 100. The event will air live on SPEED.
