I wonder what Julie Stefanik thinks about this issue. I cannot think of a more highly respected female involved in the sport her entire life.
It’s another issue that needs attention. A number of my business associates view local racetracks as nothing but a breeding grounds for irresponsible behavior. There are too many people that believe having a pit pass is a license for misbehaving. If you fight, get drunk or high, discriminate, harass someone, lie, or steal while at work or in a major retailer, you would be fired and or arrested. So why does someone think any of this behavior is acceptable at a racetrack. It’s not as prevalent in other forms of motorsports. Maybe it’s culture, maybe professional conduct is part of a contract, or maybe it’s that elsewhere more people understand that their rights don’t entitle them to end mine.
You may be making a mistake if you’re conflating the incident at New Smyrna with Stafford.
The dark, lawless image you paint is unrecognizable. Actually it sounds more like the Speedbowl circa 1980 something.

If I had a time machine that could go back to only two race events I’d go to see myself race in the early 80’s to see if I was as bad as I remember. The second race I would go back to is the Speedbowl sometime around 1985.

Doug Biden is fine with me. My man Shotgun Joe is looking pretty snappy with a 60% approval rating. More shots in more arms and more vaccine on the way. If you qualify for a stimulus check when it passes it may help pay your moving expenses out of Connecticut. I let a lot of stuff go here with the political chatter because quite honestly, I’m not devoted to either side of the aisle. I think both parties have major issues and the system is broken and blame for that broken system is equally shared by both sides. I don’t have a party affiliation, I don’t want a party affiliation and I can’t stand that so many of the decisions today made by our national leaders are swayed by party politics and not personal desire to make good leadership decision. Stafford may be the gold standard for compliance with social standards, but you are naive to think all short tracks except for one in Florida are immune from today’s societal issues. I know more than one driver that prefers a little THC in them before racing. I had a couple want to put someone in a car. I asked them what they do, Electrician. Turns out they install mini splits for a number of caregivers, an all cash business, and had a little extra for sponsorship. I’m not against someone having a few gummies or cookies while tailgating or enjoying the races from the spectator side, but not on the competition side, and I’m not a laundry man. I’ve had a kid’s mother slap and kick me, dare me to hit her back all because I got in the way of the kid’s future big time racing career. I never went to the Speedbowl in the 1980’s, I have no point of reference.
It’s interesting how I could not agree less with Earls medical diagnosis but thought nothing of it. It’s common fodder on talk radio. Endless fake diagnosis’ in every radio market, every day all day.
I don’t agree that decisions are primarily swayed by party politics. They seem more to be swayed by base politics. Liz Cheney garners support for the private vote to ouster her in the House leadership. Publicly the GOP stuck like glue to the last president and their votes reflect it.
As far as the GOP they have a rabid media that will crucify any person in Congress that steps out of line and can do it in real time just after it occurs.. Hundreds of outlets all with the same basic messaging. Then it filters down to Romney getting verbally assaulted at an airport and state parties censuring those that dare vote against Trump interests. Who wants to hear their name being trashed all over the country on media outlets that the base is devoted to?
That’s why those Republicans voting for impeachment and conviction in all of Congress are the only Profiles in Courage in my view on either side.
I can’t speak to the Democrats since I am one.. Clearly there are as many hypocrites with a rabid base unwilling to compromise.. What doesn’t exist and you can correct me on this is a vast commercial media complex singularly devoted to advancing left wing talking points.
