Ron Silk Ready To Chase Another Big Payday At Monaco Mod Tri-Track Open Wheel Wednesday

Ron Silk has been the hottest driver in Modified racing over the last season and a half, and with that success has come collecting some big paydays along the way.

So with $20,000 on the line to win – and a total purse of more than $80,000 – at the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series Open Wheel Wednesday on June 26, it only makes sense that Silk and his Haydt-Yannone Racing team would find the way to squeeze the event into their schedule.

Silk, the reigning NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, goes into that division’s event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on June 22 as the divison’s points leader. We talked with Silk Thursday about chasing wins at Seekonk and New Hampshire Motor Speedway over the next two weeks and the importance of supporting big events on the Modified schedule.

“We were kind of on the fence on how busy we wanted to make ourselves over a few days, but, Wayne [Darling] and Ed Bennett and Renee [Dupuis] and everyone that works with [the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series] and all the people that have come up with the extra money, we wanted to support a race where they’re trying to support the racers,” Silk said of adding Open Wheel Wednesday to the team’s schedule. “… It’s important. In order for them to want to do something like this it has to be successful on their end too. If we’ve got to be busy for a few extra days and put in a little extra work I think it’s well worth it for everybody.”
