Chris Jones has a long history of punishment at Stafford Speedway going back decades and that resume of penalties got a big addition on Monday.

Jone was indefinitely suspended from Stafford Speedway after having a meltdown during Friday’s SK Modified feature. [See video from the incident]. Jones refused to leave the racing surface after being ejected from the event.

In addition to the indefinite suspension, Jones was disqualified from the results of Friday’s event.

Jones was also fined $5,900 in total for various transgressions Friday. He was fined $400 for not obeying a black flag for eight laps, $2,500 for causing a delay in the feature and not obeying race control, $2,500 for leaving race tires in a pit stall and $500 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

SK Modified division driver RJ. Marcotte was suspended for the remainder of the 2024 season for over aggressiveness on track.

Marcotte was also disqualified from the feature results from Friday and fined $250.

  1. Really sticking it to the #5. Pay back has been around since day one. TC, Bo, Anderson, wouldn’t last 2 nights today.

Stafford Hs Always Had Their Favorites!!

  3. Capt. Mike Qbvious says

Payback would have been planting the 25 in the infield or sending him for a lazy spin with minimal damage resulting. Deliberately pushing someone into the wall at race speed and destroying their car is reckless, dangerous, vengeful, and a bunch of other adjectives that go beyond mere payback. (And you know it was deliberate because of the way the 5 ran and hid afterwards.) I’ve seen people suspended from other tracks and series for doing things less flagrant than that.

  4. Hey Steve those drivers never deliberately turned right in the middle of a turn and ran a competitor straight in to the wall. The 5 has been driving like an idiot for the last month and a half

  5. I’m happy to see that Stafford doesn’t put up with the unnecessary nonsense. Message sent loud and clear to all involved.

  6. How many suspensions has Chris Jones had from Stafford? Do the penalties and fines assessed by Stafford still go to the animal rescue. If so that’s a lot of well fed dogs. Chris Jones is probably the animals biggest supporter over the years.

It does seem there are a lot more penalties assessed at Stafford than any other track around. Is it just that we follow Stafford more closely, they are more transparent about the penalties or is the track run like a police state. And by the way, I agree Chris Jones should have received some form of punishment. No Comment on the 5, I will be honest I didnt see the incident.

A few less cars next week. Maybe the racing will go a little smoother.

  7. CSG,
I think this is at least the third indefinite/extended suspension he has had at Stafford. And yes, fines payable to Catherine V. Hubbard Animal Sanctuary.

  8. Well Stafford just lost 4 fans for the rest of the season. Too much of a haves have not class system. Keep trying to run the track like the cup does. It will eventually cost you your fans too
