Tinio Motorsports team manager Lawney Tinio has heard the rumors floating around that his team would be returning full-time to the Whelen Modified Tour in 2025.

Just maybe those rumors have been sparked by some chatter in the Tinio Motorsports garage.

“It’s not going to be full-time,” Tinio told RaceDayCT. “We always joke around the shop that if we were to go to New Smyrna and win and then come back and win Thompson, then you’ve got to go to the next one right?” We’ve never been to New Smyrna before so we wanted to get that on our schedule. Chase [Dowling] is going to drive the car for us. But there’s no plans to do the full series by any stretch of the imagination.”

  1. But will they be competing in more events then last year ?

Love the rumor mill especially when it pertains to the NWMT. We’re still looking for clues to see if the increased payouts will increase participation. With new blood for sure but also teams increasing the number of races they enter. One may be Joey Cipriano who raced in 4 NWMT races last year and has five on the schedule posted in social media.

I suppose it’s important to have more team race the full schedule to compete for the championship but could you argue of greater importance would be for more teams to race in any events even part time. Except Hirschman boy would that be special to see him going head to head with the 51 in every race. Tough bid though, two other teams in addition to his own need to sign on and that gets really complicated. The fact the payouts more enticing helps but gosh Hirschman has so many other ways to hit other series big money events with greater odds of winning races. I just don’t see it but if they do go all in count that as a win for the Tour decision on payouts.

  2. I think there may be more part-time teams around here, but I doubt there will be more full-time teams. The part-time teams still need extra crewmembers and deep pockets for the tire bill even if there isn’t much travel. I hope I’m right on the first 1/2 and wrong on the second 1/2.

  3. Matt has an incredible record winning hundreds of races over the years. There is one thing he wants and has a very good chance. A nascar Modified championship. 51 Will have his hands full but tracks like loudon , Richmond and martinsville Will be tough. For Matt to run in front of him. 51 is GREAT team with years of experience and a killer notebook to look at. Stone makes Justin shine. 85% of his modified wins have been in last 6 years with Ryan stone. He winless in sk division driving for art Barry at stafford , 1 win with art in MRS series , struggled to run top 5 in #00 jimmy page car in tri track / open events and was mid packer driving TBR car last year at sizzler. Again good driver but stone is magic at 51 camp .. very clear . Stats don’t lie. He will go down as one of the best because of “ Nascar success – 15 years full time” but struggled to win races in any other series or with different car owners . Whole system a a joke . Pay out has increased a little this year with NWMT but still not even in ball park . It’s 2025 and cost racing is ridiculous now. Tri – track races are all 10 thousand win now and it cost 1/3 to run compared to nascar . Point fund looks great on nwmt but it’s not . You spend around 250 thousand dollars to run the series. Then spend around 15 thousand flying guys , putting them in rooms and buying your banquet tickets. How about back to Mohegan ?! Have a real banquet like we use to ! Look at some car owners last 8 years that left and some drivers that have pretty much vanished from tour .🧐 wonder why .. Symrna is one of the lowest paying races 13 thousand to win but your travel 3000 miles and spend around 20 thousand with all BS getting army of guys down there for one race deal . Yea that makes Sense. Matt wants to chase money … he knows nascar pay sucks and makes no sense but again he wants a Nascar championship to complete his career. Fact is he is one of the best but don’t get credit cause most of its success is not nascar . All BS
