Keith Rocco is no stranger to being celebrated as a champion at the Waterford Speedbowl.
The Wallingford driver won his first title at the rack in the Street Stock division in 2004 and followed that up with SK Modified division championships at the shoreline oval in 2010 and 2011.
Now he will go looking for a title in a third different type of car in 2013.
Rocco is set to run a full season this year for Late Model team owner Scott Fearn.
Fearn had a new Crazy Horse Chassis car built this winter to go chasing a championship at Waterford.
“The full season, that’s the plan,” Fearn said. “We’ve really only run about 15 races together the last few years, but we’re going to give it a shot this year.”
“They’re great people at Crazy Horse, just great people to work with. We’ve done some stuff in the past with them. They’d put front clips on the cars we had and some other things. Really, when it comes to these Late Models, who else are you going to go to?”
Said Rocco of the Crazy Horse built cars: “They’re a lot of fun to drive. They react more like a Modified than any other Late Model I’ve been in.”
Rocco had three victories in Late Model action driving part-time for Fearn last year at Waterford.
“I want to race anything I can get it, and Scott and I have had a lot of fun racing together,” Rocco said.
In addition to running the Late Model at the Speedbowl, Rocco will also run full-time in an SK Modified at Waterford, Stafford Motor Speedway and Thompson International Speedway.
Rocco will be chasing another NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national title in the SK Modified divisions. He won his first national title in 2010 and finished second in the national standings in 2009, 2011 and last year. He is also expected to make some starts this season with the Valenti Modified Racing Series.

One wonders if things go well if the team will attempt the 300 lap ACT race at Airborne on July 21st. It only pays $25,000 to win and total $140,000 purse–something you see on the modified tours every week… NOT!
Given the rules change at Thompson, I’m wondering if this team might make some appearances there, now that their Waterford Late Model is legal for the Thompson Late Model class.
