Former Waterford Speedbowl championship team owner Al Gaudreau passed away on Saturday.

Gaudreau, of Norwich, was 70.
Gaudreau, and his wife Peg, were longtime participants in the local short track racing community. Around the track, Gaudreau was known as Buddha.
The car and team he owned, known as Buddha’s Bullet, won five Modified championships in the 1970’s at Waterford and he also ran a Late Model team with his son Tommy and won two championships at the Speedbowl.
“Our deepest sympathies are with Peg in addition to Al’s family and friends” Waterford Speedbowl owner Terry Eames said in a statement Monday. “Al was part of the fabric of the Speedbowl for decades and he will be sorely missed by us all.”
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. at Labenski Funeral Home at 107 Boswell Ave. in Norwich on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. at Labenski Funeral Home.
