Stafford Notes: Jay Stuart Tops Late Model Field; Bob Charland Wins In SK Light Mods

STAFFORD – Jay Stuart is known as The Professor and Friday night the Preston driver was back teaching lessons in the Late Model division at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Stuart drove away from the field over the closing laps to win the 30-lap Late Model feature at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Jim Mavlouganes of Bethany was second and Adam Gray of Belchertown, Mass. third.

It was the 19th career Late Model victory at Stafford for Stuart and his first at the track since May 20, 2005.

Stuart went by Rick Charette for the lead on lap nine and never trailed again.

Bob Charland held off the challenges of three drivers over a pair of late restarts to win the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature.

It was the first victory of the season for Charland, of Stafford.

Ronnie Williams of Tolland was second and Rich Hammann of Tolland third.

Josh Wood of Palmer, Mass. won the 25-lap Limited Late Model feature. Andrew Hayes of Charlton, Mass. was second and Jesse Hinze of Farmington third.
