Stafford Motor Speedway Celebrates 2012 Season With Awards Banquet Friday

Nearly 500 people celebrated the 2012 racing season and its champions at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday evening at La Renaissance Banquet Facility in East Windsor.

Stafford Speedway honored 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track champions Ted Christopher (SK Modified), Woody Pitkat (Late Model), Zach Aszklar (SK Light Modified), Cory Casagrande (Limited Late Model) and Cliff Saunders (DARE Stock).

Speedway announcers Matt Buckler and Joe Coss oversaw the master of ceremonies duties as a plethora of awards were handed out.

Special awards that presented during the evening’s festivities were Most Popular Driver Awards, Most Improved Driver Awards, SPAFCO Race Chassis & Parts Rookie of the Year awards, and the UNOH Ultimate Mechanic of the Year Award.

Awards for most improved driver went to Brian Sullivan (SK Modified), Mark St. Hilaire (Late Model), Bob Charland and Tony Membrino Jr. (SK Light Modified) ad Jesse Hinze (Limited Late Model)

The SPAFCO Race Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year awards went to Matt Galko (SK Modified), Kevin Gambacorta (Late Model), Joey Ferrigno (SK Light Modified), Josh Wood (Limited Late Model)

Winners of the Most Popular Driver awards were Ryan Preece (SK Modified), Jim Peterson (Late Model), Jay Goff (SK Light Modified), David Arute (Limited Late Model) and Cliff Saunders (DARE Stock). The most popular driver award is voted upon by fans at the track.

The UNOH Ultimate Mechanic Award recipient was Mike O’Sullivan, who prepared and maintained the championship winning SK Modified for Christopher.
