New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway has long been a track that has smiled often upon Chuck Hossfeld.

Over the years the Ransomville, N.Y. driver has had plenty of success behind the wheel of a Modified at the track.

Saturday he grabbed his first victory of 2013.

Hossfeld held off Matt Hirschman over the closing laps to win the 35-lap Tour Type Modified feature Saturday at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.

Hirschman, of Northampton, Pa., was second. Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y. was third.

According to Speed51, Hossfeld took the lead from JR Bertuccio on lap six and never trailed again.

Eleven cars started the feature, the second of six Modified over nine evenings this week and next week at New Smyrna Speedway. Woody Pitkat won the Modified feature on opening night of the World Series Friday.

In the 35-lap Pro Late Model feature, Wolcott 15-year old Joey Mucciacciaro took the lead on the final lap for his first victory at the track.

Brandon Johnson was leading while Mucciacciaro and Brad May were battling for second late in the race, but contact with a lapped car by Johnson allowed Mucciacciaro to go the lead on the closing lap.
