Friday evening in Florida the team showed why the optimism was so high.

Pitkat, of Stafford, held off Patrick Emerling to win the 35-lap Tour Type Modified feature at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway.

According to The Chrome Horn, Pitkat started third in the feature, quickly went by Matt Hirschman for second and took the lead from Emerling for good just after a lap six restart.

Emerling, of Orchard Park, N.Y., was second. Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa. was third.

Twelve cars started the feature, the first of six Modified events over nine evenings at New Smyrna Speedway.
