Bobby Santos III Tops Whelen Modified Tour Practice Charts At Stafford Motor Speedway

STAFFORD – The last of four visits to the Stafford Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2012 saw Bobby Santos III celebrating in victory lane in the Fall Final.

Santos picked up right where he left off last year, still fast.

Santos, of Franklin, Mass., was fastest in practice for Saturday in preparation for Sunday’s Spring Sizzler 200 at Stafford Speedway.

Santos toured the half-mile oval in 17.938 seconds (100.346 mph).

Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, N.Y. was second fastest at 17.946 seconds (100.301 mph). Donny Lia of Jericho, N.Y. was third fastest (17.971 seconds, 100.161 mph) during the 75 minute session.

Qualifying for the division is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today.

Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, Pa was fourth fast during the practice at 18.036 seconds (99.800 mph). Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield was fifth (18.062 seconds, 99.657 mph).

Eric Berndt of Cromwell, E. Goodale of Riverhead, N.Y., Mike Stefanik of Coventry, R.I., Ron Silk of Norwalk and Jimmy Blewett of Howell, N.J. rounded out the top-10 respectively in practice.
