Rained Out Valenti Modified Racing Series Event At Thompson Speedway Will Not Be Rescheduled

After the grandstands were cleared and the gates were shuttered Sunday afternoon at Thompson International Speedway following the rainout of a scheduled 75-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series event at the track, there remained optimism that a makeup for the event could be scheduled.

After pulling the plug on the proceedings just before 5 p.m. Sunday, track officials were saying the hope was to possibly find a September date to make the race up. Valenti Modified Racing Series director Scott Tapley confirmed that as a possibility.

By 9 p.m. Sunday it seemed any hope of finding a place on the 2013 schedule for the event was gone.

A message posted on the Valenti Modified Racing Series Facebook page Sunday evening stated that the event would not be rescheduled and emphasized that ticket stubs and pit entry wrist bands will be honored as rain checks at the division’s next event at Thompson on July 25.

The Valenti Modified Racing Series is also scheduled to compete at the track on Oct. 19.

Just after Max Zachem took the checkered flag to win the first of three scheduled Valenti Modified Racing Series heat events the rain started falling at Thompson Sunday.
