Thirty Two Signs Honey Badger Of The Week Award: Keith Rocco

Thanks to Randall and his glorious YouTube classic, we all know this, “Honey Badger don’t care.”

Does that count for broken bones too?

According to Randall: “The honey badger has been referred to by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most fearless animal in all of the animal kingdom.”

Saturday night at the Waterford Speedbowl, SK Modified and Late Model division driver Keith Rocco took fearless to a new level.

We know from Randall: “Honey Badger don’t care, it just takes what he wants. He has no regard for any other animal whatsoever.”

After making contact with Justin Gaydosh during an SK Modified division heat race, Rocco, of Wallingford, was left with a broken bone in his left wrist. He knew it was broken, he knew he belonged in an emergency room somewhere. But he also knew a night away from the track would likely mean the opportunity to chase two championships disappearing.

So after a phantom “trip” to the hospital that never happened, Rocco returned to the Speedbowl, fashioned some good old race track technology medical stabilizing aids and got behind the wheel. He went on to finish third in the Late Model feature and fourth in SK Modified feature.

Rocco went to the emergency room after his features, to find out exactly what he already knew, his left wrist was broken.

As Randall says: “The Honey Badger is really pretty badass. It has no regard for any other animal whatsoever.” Seems no regard for pain either.
