It marked the first career podium finish for the Union driver.
Who knew then it was just the pre-show.
Friday at Stafford Speedway, in the first event back at the track since that third place, Secore made his second career podium a party two steps better than his first trip.
Secore held off Cliff Saunders on the final lap to win the 15-lap DARE Stock feature Friday.
“This is a dream right here,” Secore said during an extended and emotional victory lane celebration.
“This is a Cinderella thing,” Secore said. “We weren’t even going to come back this year. I had the car and my wife said Why don’t you give it one more swing, you’ve always wanted to do this.’ I made a bucket list and I wanted to win a race here a Stafford Motor Speedway and then I could walk away happily.” Will I now? No. This is way too much fun.”
Saunders, of Stafford, held on for second and Fran Siana of Springfield, Mass. was third.
Secore inherited the lead midway through the event after a wreck took out then leader Ryan Fearn and second place Kris Fluckiger.
