Lou Mechalides Bests The Field In Valenti Modified Racing Series At Seekonk Speedway

Lou Mechalides took the lead just after the halfway point and never trailed again on the way to victory in the 100-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series feature Saturday at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway.

Dwight Jarvis of Ascutney, Vt. edged Tommy Barrett Jr. of Millis, Mass. for second place.

It was the seventh career Valenti Modified Racing Series victory for Mechalides, moving him into sole possession of fifth place on the division’s all-time win list.

Rowan Pennink is fourth on the list with eight victories. Mechalides had been tied with Jarvis and Chris Pasteryak. Kirk Alexander is the division’s all-time winningest driver with 32 victories.

Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, Mass., became the third different winner in three Valenti Modified Racing Series events this season.

Steve Masse won the season opening event on April 7 at the Waterford Speedbowl and Rowan Pennink won the second event of the year on April 20th at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H.
