On June 29 the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will hit the quarter-mile Rivehead (N.Y.) Raceway for the first of two events for the division this year at the historic venue.

Saturday fans in Riverhead got a little sneak preview of what’s to come in three weeks.
On a podium filled with only NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour regulars, it was Riverhead Speedway Modified division regular Ryan Preece celebrating on top.
Preece, of Berlin, won the Richie Evans Hall of Fame 100 Saturday at Riverhead.
Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, N.Y. was second and Ron Silk of Norwalk third.
The victory capped a momentous weekend for Preece. On Friday the 22-year old was at Iowa Speedway where he was announced as a member of the 2013 NASCAR Next program.
