STAFFORD – As Adam Gray pulled his car into victory lane Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway, steam from his motor fired from under his hood like a geyser.

“It ran a little bit hot,” Gray joked.

It actually proved a perfectly fitting description of the entire season for the Belchertown, Mass. driver. Running hot has been all the competition has seen out of Gray in 2013 at Stafford.

Gray rolled to victory in the 30-lap Late Model feature Friday at Stafford Speedway.

It was his sixth victory in 15 events this season and his 14th consecutive podium finish. Gray’s only finish outside the top-three this season was an 18th place finish in the season opener.

“After the season we’re having, it seems like [a smile] is permanently stuck on my face,” Gray said. “I truly cannot thank my crew enough.”

Woody Pitkat of Stafford was second and JJ Hill of Stafford third.

Gray went by Hill for the lead on lap 22 and never trailed again on the way to victory.

“Adam’s been really fast,” Pitkat said. “He’s just been on.”

Said Gray: “Words can’t describe [the streak]. I wake up in the morning and I’ve got to check the website to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.”
