SCARBOROUGH, Me. – Every now and then you need a break from the usual, need to get out and hit the road, take in some new sites.
And that’s just the case tonight. The RaceDayCT sponsored Toyota Camry (we had a top five car all day, but lapped traffic was a mess) has made the long trek north. Past Massachusetts, past New Hampshire and into Maine.
Arrival at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway for this reporter’s maiden voyage to the venerable raceway.
On tap tonight at Beech Ridge is a 100-lap feature for the Valenti Modified Racing Series and we’ll be taking in the action from high atop the insanely-steeped Beech Ridge grandstands.
First impressions? Sand. Lots of sand. Other than that, what an interesting little oval. More to come later.

What did you think of BR in comparison to Waterford, Thompson and Stafford? Personally I think they do a stand up job with promoting the race, from the Bunny Bus, music, marketing, etc. The racing is decent too. Nice facility overall.
I thought the promotion at the event was outstanding. Fans really seemed into everything going on, something you don’t see that much of at short tracks any more. Definitely a different world from Thompson, Stafford and Waterford in a lot of ways. And I thought the facility looked really great for what it is.
