STAFFORD – With the dramatics of championship chasing in the SK Modified division behind him Sunday, Woody Pitkat got to go for a Sunday drive in his Late Model.

A very successful Sunday drive that is.

After finishing third in the SK Modified feature and clinching his first track title in that division, Pitkat went out and won the 30-lap Late Model feature.

It was his second Late Model feature victory of the season.

“The pressure was off,” Pitkat said. “I told the guys, ‘We got the big challenge behind.’ I saw these nice big trophies and I wanted one of those. I was a little more aggressive than I probably should have been. I got into Adam Gray pretty good out there. But he’s been dominant all season so it is what is. I wanted to come here and win. We had a real good car and we’ve been working real hard.”

Tom Fearn of East Longmeadow was second and Dennis Botticello of Suffield third.

Pitkat went by Fearn for the lead on lap 13 and never trailed again.

Gray of Belchertown, Mass., who clinched his first Late Model championship on the final Friday night of the season saw his amazing streak of podium finishes come to a close with a sixth place run. It snapped a streak of 16 consecutive top three finishes for Gray. Before Sunday Gray’s only finish outside the top three this season was an 18th place in the season opening event in April.
