New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Performer Of The Week Award: Nichole Morgillo

Each week during the 2013 racing season the New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Performer of the Week will be chosen from among drivers competing in events in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly division competitors at Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson International Speedway and the Waterford Speedbowl.

Each week’s winner will receive a $20 certificate for race fuel from New England Racing Fuel. Drivers must have a Sunoco Race Fuel decal on their car to be eligible for the weekly award.

It was a night of history making more than 60 years in the waiting at the Waterford Speedbowl Saturday.

For more than a season it looked like Nichole Morgillo of Yalesville was on the verge of making history at the shoreline oval. Saturday night she completed that quest.

Morgillo won the 35-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature, becoming the first female driver to win in a premier division event in the track’s 63-year history.

For her efforts, Morgillo is the recipient of this week’s New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Performer of the Week Award.
