A 2013 season of great successes and great struggles came to a close seemingly on the high of success on Sunday for Tom Fearn at Stafford Motor Speedway.

But Sunday’s success became Monday’s struggle.
Stafford Motor Speedway officials announced Monday that Fearn was being disqualified from his second place finish in Sunday’s 30-lap season finale for the Late Model division and was being fined 10 points because his rear axel did not meet measurement requirements.
The penalty dropped Fearn from a second place finish to a 21st (last) place finish. And also dropped him from second in the final standings to third. Pitkat, who won the Late Model race Sunday, moved to second in the standings because of the penalty on Fearn.
Fearn finished the season with five victories and 10 top-10 finishes in 18 starts. Adam Gray ran away with the division’s title.
Stafford Motor Speedway also announced that Pitkat was fined $100 for turning donuts in his SK Modified on the infield Sunday. Pitkat did the donuts as part of his celebrating clinching his first SK Modified division championship, which he did with a third place finish in Sunday’s 40-lap feature for the division.
