NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour team owner Mike Smeriglio III announced Friday that they have released driver Todd Szegedy.

Szegedy, 37, of Ridgefield, had been competing for Smeriglio since the start of the 2006 Modifed Tour season.

“Todd is a great driver and a better friend,” Smeriglio said in a statement through NASCAR. “We both feel a change after so many years is a way to attract new sponsors and pursue other racing opportunities for both of us.

Smeriglio said Phil Moran will remain as the team’s crew chief and a driver search for Szegedy’s replacement is ongoing.

  1. Im free if you need a REAL DRIVER LOL

  2. Not gonna find a better drover than Todd

  3. yes you could a lot of young talented drivers with money behind them out there.
I know a lot of people don’t like him but even Keith Rocco,he has won a championship at every track and I think can win on tour if given chance with right team.Tommy Barret if he keeps his head together not like on mrs tour.I say Keith because so many drivers came on sk racing won races and disappeared like James Civali,Eric Berndt did well then died down. Keith is the only one who showed up to win and still does I think Preece gets a lot of chances because of family money, give Keith credit for finding sponsors and I think Keith has more wins and I would rather have one or two national championships then a tour title because no offense there really isn’t too many great teams left on tour maybe 4 or 5 tops, tour is going down hill and fast.
