STAFFORD – Coming into the 2023 season at Stafford Speedway Ryan Waterman had a pretty simple main goal: Get his first win at the track.

Waterman achieved that goal in the first event of the season and has kept repeating that feat over and over through the year.

On Friday, Waterman held off reigning division champion Travis Hydar to get his seventh feature win of the season in the 20-lap Street Stock feature at Stafford.

Hydar, of Woodbury, was second and Bert Ouellette of Ellington third.

Waterman will go into the final event of the season on next Friday leading the division standings, holding a 14-point advantage over second place Hydar.

When asked what he thought of going into the final week of the season as the points leader Waterman said: “I would have never thought that, but here we are.”

Tyler Chapman of Ellington got his third win of the season in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature.

Chris Matthews of Stafford was second and George Bessette Jr. of Danbury third.

Brian Sullivan and Bessette will go into the final event of the season next week tied at the top of the SK Light Modified standings.

Damien Palarady of Willington won the 20-lap Limited Sportsman feature.

Adrien Paradis III of Plainville was second and Rich Hammann of Tolland third.

Comments

  1. What a season Ryan has had. Congratulations to the whole team

  2. What was Amanda West crying about the 39 for? He had nothing to do with that incident in the skl race.

  3. Suspicious Stagger says

Two separate shades of orange. She falls in the neon category herself.

  4. I don’t know what happened that caused her to drift up into the high lane but Bessette was rude earlier to her. He drove in in a ton in three forcing West out of the preferred line. Looked great on the video but I see her point.
Here’s the deal with Bessette. Everything he sits in turns to gold. He’s Superman and thinks nothing of roughing up people in the Lights that he now thinks are below his ability level. He’s got the ability, the car, works hard and not afraid to push his weight around.
Looks good on the video, not strictly illegal but he’s annoying to meat and potatoes racers trying to score a good finish like West.
